boros bunker

In this mashup we’re paying homage to Berlin’s – and creative leaders’ – phoenix-like powers to rise again, even on a Monday morning, thanks to the indestructible, eternally-returning hybrid of re+creation.⁣ ⁣

From bomb shelter, to banana warehouse to techno club: you’d never suspect that the 2-meter-thick, bullet-scarred, irreverently spray-painted concrete walls of this clunky bunker on Berlin’s Reinhardtstrasse conceal a world-class cache of international contemporary art with works by Olafur Eliasson, Elizabeth Peyton, Damien Hirst, Ai Weiwei, Thea Djordjadze + many other celebrated names!⁣ ⁣ Named after its owner, advertising entrepreneur Christian Boros, the Boros Collection was opened in 2008, after the bunker’s interior was completely redesigned by Berlin architects Realarchitektur, to optimally accommodate the dimensions of its new treasures.⁣ ⁣ A little reminder that even structures born of strife can become bastions of culture and creativity…⁣ ⁣
